Description

A sweet and tangy homemade strawberry sauce perfect for topping pancakes, waffles, ice cream, or cheesecake.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 tbsp water (only if using cornstarch)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries release their juices and the mixture starts to bubble (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. If a thicker sauce is desired, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl to make a slurry and stir it into the strawberry mixture.
  4. Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and allow to cool. The sauce will continue to thicken slightly as it cools.
  6. Serve warm or chilled as a topping.

Notes

  • You can blend the sauce for a smoother texture.
  • Adjust sugar based on the sweetness of the strawberries.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
