Description

Delicate French madeleines with a rich chocolate base, dipped in vibrant, earthy matcha green tea for a unique and elegant flavor combination.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100g dark chocolate, melted
  • 2 tbsp matcha green tea powder
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour madeleine molds.
  2. In a bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until pale and thick.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture.
  5. Add melted butter and vanilla extract, folding carefully to combine.
  6. Spoon batter into the molds, filling about 3/4 full.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the madeleines spring back when touched.
  8. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
  9. Melt the dark chocolate and mix the matcha powder in a shallow dish.
  10. Dip one side of each cooled madeleine in melted chocolate, then immediately dip into matcha powder to coat.
  11. Place on parchment paper to set.
  12. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

  • Ensure madeleines are fully cooled before dipping to avoid melting the chocolate.
  • Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
