Ingredients

1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups (300 g) sugar

3/4 cup (75 g) cocoa powder

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 cup (240 ml) milk

1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable oil

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
Instructions

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 8-inch (20 cm) round cake pans.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and well combined.

Stir in boiling water carefully — the batter will be thin.

Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.

Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks before frosting.
