- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Add the milk and mix until smooth. Place over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is hot but not boiling.
- Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips until melted and smooth.
- Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract.
- Transfer the mixture to a container and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 2 hours before serving.
